Edition of 3.000
I was asked to design the Book Cover for the official austrian dictionary. It is a limited edition for the dictionary's 70th anniversary (44th edition) and available via the shoplink and in book stores across austria.
For the final artwork I developed a system which connected me with the product. I counted the number of book pages that start with the letter "B", "O", "I", "C", "U" & "T" and lined them up to get this number: 522.214.171.1242. I then chose my favourite words on page 521, 215, 103 & 332. The first word was "Papierl", a typical austrian word for a small piece of paper. I went outside and take a picture of the very first papierl I would find in the streets. Its shape inspired me for the main shape in the artwork. I then added more words I found on these pages like "Paprika", "hindurchwirken", "Bemmerl" and so forth. The result is a colourful book cover as colourful as the austrian language. Its purpose is to whet the viewers appetite to take a playful dive into the book and discover tons of exciting words.
